Yolani: fantastic - that's why I write this blog! Good luck with that speech class. High School students can be tricky to motivate when it comes to public speaking. Here are a couple of tips that might help:

1. Barack Obama learned to speak in public and look where that got him!
2. Public speaking skills are the same skills that pop & movie stars use when they perform.
3. Any job that requires you to speak in public pays more than one that doesn't - money in the bank!

Good luck!

Hi. I am a Civil Engineer who recently moved to teaching in a High School. Last year I was teaching Geometry, which is up my alley. But this year I have been assigned speech, as my Coordinator sees potential, I suppose, in me. I have found your blog very helpfull as a starter for one of my lectures. Keep up the great tips!!!
