Debbie: Congratulations on knowing what you want to do! There is no one path to get to where you want to go, but it sure looks like you are on your way. I don't know of any free online course that you can take; however, there are several books that you might want to read: The Lost Art of the Great Speech: How to Write One--How to Deliver It (Paperback)
~ Richard Dowis (here 's the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Lost-Art-Great-Speech-One-How/dp/0814470548/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1275236149&sr=8-1).

Hi,

I would like to become a speechwriter..I have a good command of the English language and I feel I have what it takes..Do you know of a free online course I can take or is it necessary..I have written jokes for comedians..poems for children, and articles for newspapers..never got paid..I would like to but I probably would have to write on a voluntary basis yet..any suggestions..or any sites that might take me..Thank you..Debbie Klein
